Potty Training.....A Family Affair!
With a new baby in the house the last thing on my mind was potty training a 2 1/2 year old little boy, but when he won't keep a diaper on, what choice do you have. So on with the underwear we go. Sam is wearing underwear all day. I can't put pants on him or I forget to ask him if he needs to use the bathroom. I thought this new adventure would be full of messes and lots of laundry. Surprisingly he caught on very quickly. This is all due to the wonderful helpers we have in this house. His three older siblings think that it is really neat to ask Sam if he needs to go "pee" every 15 minutes. They even offer to join him. Potty training makes you really feel like a parent, because being a parent means saying things you would have never said otherwise. For instance "if you go poop in the potty you get a toy", or "when you go pee-pee in the potty you get some gum". There is no greater joy then seeing you little boy light up when he knows "its" working. So these days our home is full of excitement about bathroom usage and applause for not missing the toilet bowl. It's always new and different when you are having fun with 5.
