Why I love Babies!

I love babies for many reasons, first and for most they don't talk back. Secondly they sleep a lot,(well for a little while). Darren is so much fun right now. He smiles so big and has this adorable deep chuckle. It doesn't matter what kind of day I am having I can always hold my sweet boy and calm down. He is my peace. It is moments like those that remind me why I became a mother.

Now I am not saying that I don't love my big kids too. Sydney's spontaneous "I love yous" and Sam's darling "OK mom" are enough to melt anyone. Having conversations with Jeramy about books and friends is very nice. He is turning into a very good little man. Hearing a joke from Bob, and watching him play with the little ones is such a joy. He is going to be a great Dad some day. It is so much fun to watch them grow.

I am grateful for all of my children. Each day is an adventure and I wish I had a pause button sometimes.

We send our love to all who read this and hope that your days are full of adventure too.

A New Chapter

We we thought we should give everyone an update on the happenings out here. Rod is going back to school!!! We are very excited. He is starting out part time at TMCC and then in 1-2 yrs will be full time at UNR. They have one of the best Geological engineering schools in the country. That is what we are hoping he can get his degree in. So we will be here for a little while longer. After that, who knows where we will end up. We will leave that up to the Lord. He has known what is best all along. We are so grateful for the guidance of our Heavenly Father in all things.
I love the 4th of the July. It is so easy to find inexpensive shirts for everyone. We had a really fun day at our friends house. This pic was taken by the wife. It is amazing that everyone is looking forward. We are going to get it framed. It's fun to see all of us together.

A Giant Step!

Today was one small step for our toddler and a giant step for our family! Our little blue eyed boy went to nursery, stayed the whole time, and didn't want to leave when I went to pick him up. We have been working on this for a year, and now my hubby and I were able to go to class. Well we were able to substitute a CTR 5 class with our princess......That is a whole other story! Anyway, we are so proud of our boy. We know that this happened mainly because a new worker in the nursery is a dear friend and he loves her. Today he was her big helper. The other reason I think today worked was because I am such a good mom...........yeah right, I totally bribed him. Since he was such a good boy he got to come home and have popcorn while watching "Ratatouille". I love bribery. This is how we were able to get the princess to go to primary, it is a bummer that it took us until she was in CTR 5 to figure it out! You learn as you go! I hope everyone had a wonderful Sunday as well.

Great Fun!

Our family came and went this weekend without a hitch. It was so much fun to see everyone. It was really a wonderful weekend.

Bob was so great at his baptism. The spirit was so strong in the room. His Aunt Jen spoke about the Holy Ghost. We are so blessed to have him as our companion after we are comfirmed. I am so proud of him and his faith in the Gospel. I know that he will do wonderful things in the church and as a missionary. Bob was comfirmed on Sunday during Sacrament, Rod did a very nice job, you could tell he was really listening to the spirit. It is so wonderful to have the priesthood in our family. It is such a blessing to have the Gospel.

After the baptism the children went and swam at the hotel with Grandma and Grandpa. I took some time to clean up and prepare for dinner. Rod spent the whole day setting up our much needed swamp cooler (it is wonderful). So Grandpa G. ended up doing all of the BBQing. The Tri-Tip was fab. Dinner was a bit late, but everyone so sweet and patient with me. I think everyone enjoyed visiting. It was fun to have our friends there too. Our Utah friends were able to get to know our Reno friends. That was pretty neat. We are so blessed to have such wonderful friends.

On Sunday along with the confirmation, Darren was blessed. Again you could tell Rod was listening to the spirit. It was so beautiful. Darren was very well behaved and very cute in his white outfit.

So now it is back to life as usual. It was hard to switch gears, but when you are faced with mountains of laundry that were neglected all weekend it is not hard to get back to normal.

Thank you to everyone who took the time and money to come and share these wonderful moments with us. We are so grateful that all of you are a part of our lives.

Getting Ready!

For the past 6 weeks I have been getting ready for our family to come into town. Bob is being baptised on Saturday, and Darren will be blessed on Sunday. It has been a long wait. I have had the menus planned and ideas on time lines for activities all mapped out. Now that the time is here I don't feel ready at all. (Are you ever really ready for you mother-in-law to come to your home?) I have so much cleaning to do and the heat is making me a very cranky maid. I fret and fret until they are here but when everyone gets here I know I will be fine. All of the planning in my mind will be gone and things will just happen. I take after my mother and get worked up over everything. It is a good thing that I have a wonderful husband to calm me down.

The most important part of this weekend is Bob's baptism. He is so ready. I feel like the time has just flown by. He is a very sweet boy who understands the feelings of the spirit really well. I can see his sweet spirit when he plays with his brothers and sisters and when he makes friends. I am so grateful he is apart of our family. He brings so much joy to us. This weekend should be wonderful.
